Rx for Change: Clinician-Assisted Tobacco Cessation

Rx for Change, which draws heavily from the Clinical Practice Guideline for Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence, was designed with a vision for dissemination. It is comprehensive, turn-key, and can be used with students or licensed clinicians in virtually any health professional field. The teaching strategies are varied and include a pre-class assigned reading, lecture with animated PowerPoint slides, videotape (an introductory videotape segment, videotaped counseling sessions, and trigger tapes), and role playing with case scenarios. All materials have been externally reviewed by key educators, clinicians, and researchers in the field, and are updated continuously to reflect current science for the treatment of tobacco use and dependence.

Structure of the Rx for Change Training Program
To facilitate the incorporation of Rx for Change into a variety of curriculum structures, the program is composed of a series of complementary but independent modules. Each of more than 300 PowerPoint slides is complete with instructor notes and current literature citations.
